oh dear.

I don't think I even need to say anything.

the Frog Princess eats well

With Trent being out of town and school being cancelled because its FREEZING COLD here, we were starting to get bored.

The kids LOVE the movie the Frog Princess (and so do I :) ) , they quote it all the time. yesterday they were quoting from it and Carson turns and says, "mom, can you make beignets?" I thought about it...."Sure! lets plan on doing it tomorrow." ...I had to learn how to spell it first ;)

So today while Audrey was in the bath Carson and I (with Jordan supervising our every move) we made Beignets. and I have to say for making them for the first time they turned out really well and they were relatively easy.

the only changes I think I would make is to add some vanilla or cinnamon.

I didn't get any pictures of them making the dough..opps! but after the dough was made and rising, I had two great helpers doing dishes :)

After the dough has risen, you cut 1 inch squares.

Fry the squares in oil at 350*, turning them over and over until both sides are golden brown. Once the squares are brown set them on a napkin for a minute or so..

Then Put them in a bag with 3 cups of powdered sugar and give them a shake! this was the kids favorite part

She was dancing around...I just caught her in a weird spot.

And when it was Jordan's turn she would jump and laugh and laugh..so cute!

We all had a great time and will deffinetly be making them again

saturday outings

We went to Cour D'alene park on Saturday.

You gotta look great when you're leaving the house. ;)
We stopped for a treat on the way to the park

best buds!

Carson jumped on this and said,"mom, take a picture so we can show grandpa"

Two things Jordan loves. Her dad, and swinging!

This was the coolest thing ever. Think merry-go-round

Now, if it wasn't so cold! it was a sunny afternoon but about 35 out not to mention the wind. we lasted about 20 minutes then headed home.

We are deffinetly ready for summer to come.

kohls

Today I took the kids to Kohls.
I'm not a big shopper.

I do like sales though and a few gals from church were talking about the sales going on and I didn't have anything else to do today so I packed up the kids and drove the ten minute drive (I told you, everything here is close).
We came home with a few things but here were the highlights.

The maker of these beauties, genius! I especially loved that normally Jordan's was 49.00 and I paid 4.00, and Audrey's was normally 30-something and I paid 3.00. yep, felt pretty proud of myself on those. :)
*and I do have to add, the doll that Audrey has was mine from when I was Jordan's age*

no school

What do you do when school's out?

We made a super hero cape and accessories for a boys birthday party.
Carson designed it, picked out the fabric and drew up a pattern for the mask.

Carson loved modeling the finished product.
(well, almost finished. I still have to iron on a T on the back of the cape)

I tried to convice him to take his shirt off and pose...I got a quick No.

Coloring with costumes on is so much more fun in costume.

What did you do today?

50's sweetheart dance

Our stake had a sweethearts 50's dance on Friday night so us and 10 other couples met up at Red Robin for dinner and then a few couples headed to the dance for some fun. Trent and I had a great time dancing, reminded us of our fun times at BYU-Idaho and all the fun events we attended.

Dream job and Vacation?

Trent is currently on the phone with the people who work here to see if he can perform this for a week this summer and asking instead of being paid if we can have lodging and park passes.
I'll let you know how it turns out.
Nothing wrong with asking, right?

Tourists

On Saturday we played "tourists" in Spokane. heres a glimpse at our day
they are all in reverse order...opps!
we first went and rode the Gondola over the Spokane falls then went and walked part of Riverside Park and went down the "radio flyer" slide and fed some ducks.
fabulous day!

Attack of the ducks
*thank you old man for sharing your bread with us.
this was taken after we were out of bread and most of the ducks had gone on*

Audrey was so happy to discover she was sitting on an "A" block

*It was a REALLY fast slide, thus the panic look on her face*

Coolest slide. ever!

Walking carefully to see the giant "ducks", the kids kept calling the geese 'ducks'

amazing

yep, they are all mine.

late night blog stalking

last night I stumbled across this blog:
It's my new favorite. love her style, love her "cheapness" and love that she shares her findings even when she has a store and could be selling all her fabulous ideas.
I immediately wanted to run to goodwill or value village to find a pleated skirt to make her dress, or find some old broches and make her necklaces.
love good finds.
~and she has a great name ~

Crafting

Our Relief Society has recently started a craft group. Every month there will be a new craft that someone will teach, simple things that are easy and cheap (my favorite).

I thought I would share this months project.

Cupcake Liner Wreath

Ingredients are:

100 cupcake liners (color of your choosing)

green flower arranging foam ($ store)

wide ribbon
hot glue gun

button/bow (optional)

30-45 minutes

Directions:
First take your wide ribbon, and wrap around the green foam, hot glueing the ends of the ribbon down to the foam.

Next, start gluing your cupcake liners in bunches around the front and then sides of the ribbon covered foam. its easiest to stick your thumb in the center of the liner and squish it around your thumb for ease of gluing and shaping

Lastly, add any embelishments you want, and add a ribbon for hanging ta da!

Best part is you can make them for any season or color you want.

Happy Crafting!
