My grandma's birthday is the day before Halloween and this year it fell on a Sunday so after church all relatives living close by came to my grandma's to help celebrate her 77th birthday. We all LOVE going to grandmas, the adults talk for hours, the cousins mingle and the great-grandkids all run around like crazy kids having fun (GG gives them free rain of toys, house, you name it. she's says kids are kids and just to let them be. )
I count myself really lucky to have lived so close to most of my extended family where it seemed at least once a month we were at grandma's house for something. some of my best friends are my cousins and some of my best memories are with them, I love them to death.
anyway, as we were all saying our goodbyes grandma said, "wait, I never got a picture today!" I nabbed my bestie-cousin and snapped a quick one.
Happy Birthday Grandma!!
... a few things I learned from my Grandma...
all the words (and hand motions) to C.C. oh playmate
Mares eat Oats (except I never actually new the real words until just a few months ago. :))
Best way to wash a dog
How to sew a dress
How to make a wedding cake (we made mine together)
The proper way to take care of roses
How to make her famous cinnamon rolls (even in a bad oven)
How to take a great picture and submit it and win a ribbon at the fair (so cool!)
How to be a great mom, person and best friend.
Love You Grandma!
Okay, Sarah, we'll see if it's fixed now! I'm so glad you and your grandma have benefited from your close relationship. I am hoping that my children will also develop those relationships with their grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. It's something I never really had!
